How to stop food cravings? Exercise! Your appetite will temporarily subside and you'll feel great for taking such a positive step to stay healthy!
Tuna is a great source of omega-3 essential fatty acids and it is easy to cook on the grill.
If you can find a form of exercise you really enjoy it makes it much easier to stick with. For me that was a non-contact kick boxing class. I am always more motivated to take classes than to work out on my own at home or even on the treadmill at the gym. If you can work regular exercise into your routine you will see weight loss and improved health twice as fast as with "dieting" alone.
Start every morning with a filling fruit smoothie. It takes a bit longer than pouring a bowl of cereal but it's worth the extra work. Just put a little 100% juice, a banana, a container of yogurt, and a few ice cubes in your blender until smooth. Other great fruits you could use are pineapple, peach, strawberries, and blueberries. A handful of spinach can be thrown in too, the sweetness of the fruit masks the spinach and it still tastes great! Another great thing about making drinks in your blender with whole ingredient, as opposed to juicing which removes the fiber (fiber makes you feel full longer which is great if you are on a weight loss plan!) These breakfast smoothies are so good your kids will be asking for one! High five to y
Frozen blueberries make an excellent snack in the summer - much better than ice cream or other cold treats.
Pedometer -- I totally forgot dad and I have one, so...we're going to begin our routine this evening. Not 10,000 steps at first, but the important thing is you've inspired us to get our butts moving! Yay!
My friend grills mushrooms on her Foreman and I think this is a great idea as mushrooms count towards your five daily portions and are naturally low in fat.
I love to make a thing I call tuna pizza! I take a corn tortilla, and pop that on the grill. I spread some salsa on it, and then layer on a ton of spinach leaves , some tuna, a handful of corn, and a bit of feta cheese. Its yummy, healthy, and quick!
To up your water intake, drink a glass when you wake up before you do anything else. Drink a glass before you eat anything, and before you go to bed. Find the temp that you prefer (mine is room temp) and try to keep a glass or two at that temp so you can just grab and drink! I find that drinking before I eat helps curb overeating too!
It's not just what you eat, but what you drink also. Stick with water. Add lemon juice for flavor.

STUFFED PEPPERS Ingredients to serve 4 4 peppers 453 grams ground beef 227 grams ricotta cheese 112 grams shredded mozzarella cheese, divided 227 grams controlled carb tomato sauce 3/4 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon pepper [Image:25082003_105916_3.bmp] 1. Heat oven to 350º F. In large bowl, mix ground beef, ricotta cheese, 1/2 cup mozzarella, salt, pepper and half the tomato sauce until well combined. 2. Slice top off peppers and remove seeds and ribs. With a small knife, cut a few small slits in the bottom of each pepper (to drain liquid released by the beef as it cooks). 3. Select a baking dish that will hold the peppers snugly; pour remaining sauce in bottom of the dish. Arrange peppers open side up and stuff with meat mixture. Top with remaining mozzarella. 4. Spray a large piece of aluminum foil with oil. Place sprayed side down over peppers. Bake, covered, 30 minutes. Uncover, and bake 50 minutes more, or until meat is cooked through and cheese has browned. Per serving: Carbohydrates: 12.5 grams Net Carbs: 9.5 grams Protein: 35 grams Fat: 33.5 grams Calories: 502
Great Fish Taco Recipe Ingredients: 1 or 2 Talapia Filets depending on size; whole weat tortillas; romaine lettuce; small bunch of cilantro; fresh tomato. First, place talapia in egg bath, then coat with seansoned bread crumbs. Next, saute talapia in virgin olive oil for about 5 minutes. Remove talapia and cut into bite size pieces. While talapia is cooling, prepare the garnish by cutting the romaine lettuce julienne style, add diced fresh tomato. Take your cilantro bunch and chop a generous portion. Add cilantro to the lettuce & tomato with fresh squeezed lemon juice. Season to taste. You are now ready to assemble. Warm your whole weat tortilla directly over gas flame or hot skillet. Take your warmed torilla, add 3 pieces of fish, add your garnish on top with fat-free cheddar and salsa if desired. Serve with black beans. This is a simple, delicious, healthly and filling meal. Enjoy!!!
Hi Caprice! I'm so excited for you! I'm an opera singer and mom too. :0) Anyway, I'm about to embark on my own weight loss journey for my health and career and in my research I came across this article. http://ezinearticles.com/?Free-List-of-Fat-Burning-Foods&id=29877 The food on the list all sounds delicious to me and apparently it takes more calories to digest these foods than you ingest when eating them! Sounds good to me! Anyway, I'm rooting for you big time. I watched the first episode and you have a beautiful voice! toi toi toi! Bianca
Keep track of your food and exercise in an online food diary. There are several sites that allow you to closely monitor your daily intake, giving you a total number of calories consumed. These sites also offer workout tracking so you can see how many calories you have burned. I use myfooddiary.com which is a paid site, but you can google it and get options for free sites also.
Hi, Caprice. Taking small steps to remove empty carbs from your diet, as well as adding walking to your daily routine will really help you. It helped me lose 100 pounds.
Don't forget about all the hidden calories that you don't even think of - that regular cola has about 120 per can... vs. the diet version with only 1 calorie. Take it a step further and avoid the sugars by sticking with water! Best of luck to you...
Take your baby for a stroll through Ft. Tryon Park
I find it hardest to stay with a diet if I can't have a treat every now and then. So, I make this really healthy cake so I can have a treat without it making me crave more sweet stuff! Try it, its easy and AWESOME!! Orange Almond cake 5 clementine (or mandrin) oranges 2 1/3 cups ground almonds 1 cup sugar (I reduce this amount) 6 eggs Take 5 clemetine oranges (or 3 navel oranges) adn boils in water for 2hrs. That was the hard part! Take oranges out of water, and slice in half. drop in a food processer or blender for a few seconds untill pureed. In a lg bowl beat eggs together, add sugar, almonds, and oranges, Mix well. Pour into a well greased springform pan. Cook at 375 for 1 hour. Cool. I dust mine with icing sugar instead of icing. I usually let mine sit in the fridge overnight. The taste will only get better over time!
For some fun excercise, try hula hooping! The hoops adults use nowadays are much larger and weighted. It makes it easier to spin! I hoop everyday and its just plain fun!. you can even make your own hoop. I made mine with irrigation tubing (1/2inch 100PSI) and a 1/2 connecter that I got at the hardware store. I cut the tube 13ft long and connected it together. You can add weight to the hoop if you like before you connect it. I filled mine with oatmeal. Tape a design on the outside with some fun colored electrical tape and get outside!
I looove cheeseburgers, but of course they are loaded in fat, so what I do is that I take ground turkey and add a teaspoon of curry paste (you can find it in the ethnic foods aisle) along with lots of chopped onion. It adds alot of flavor and color to the meat and it makes for a delish burger:)
Ahhh.....salads. Salads taste even better with creamy thick dressing, but by the time you do this, you might as well have went to McDonalds to get a Big Mac. I always ask for dressing on the side and dip my fork in the dressing before diving into the healthy salad. You still get the great taste you are craving with less calories. Yum!
I think it is fantastic that you are keep fit by being active while babywearing! Freda gets to join in with the fun! So I have been joining in, there are so many ways to get active with a little one wrapped on your back. This week I have tried: Dancing, exercising in my living room, running up and down the stairs, step rebok and going on long walks.

Dinner Menu: Grilled Boneless Skinless Chicken Thighs, On a Bed of Iceberg Lettuce: Low-fat cottage cheese, sliced fresh tomatoes and half of a small sliced avocado, plenty of water Dad grilled a piece of boneless, skinless chicken thighs (one for each) on the Foreman Grill lightly sprinkled with seasoned garlic salt. Served with a dollop of low-fat cottage cheese surrounded by sliced fresh tomatoes, a half of a small sliced avocado all assembled on top of the lettuce. TERRIFIC DINNER and super healthy and very inexpensive.
Move to Italy and eat lots of great and healthy food while walking everywhere!!
cut carbs, I have lost 75 lbs in 2 years, I always make sure protein and veggies are in bigger portions than the carbs. It works.
Caprice - As a single guy, I don't do a lot of cooking. What I do love to make are cold cuts and sandwiches... and my favorite is a grilled panini. I recently discovered that my George Foreman grill is the perfect way to make a great pannini, quick and easy! Everything from a grilled chicken breast to an easy ham and cheese - my George Foreman even leaves the bread looking like it came out of one of the super-pricy pannini presses! Keep up the good work, and keep knocking out the fat! Cheers, Christian
Turkey Koftas Serves 4 Preparation Time: 10 minutes Cooking Time: 8 - 10 minutes Calories Per Portion: 192 (allowing 2 koftas per portion) Fat Per Portion: 8.3g Ingredients to serve 4 (2 koftas per person) 450g (1lb) fresh turkey mince 1 medium onion, peeled and grated 2-4 garlic cloves, peeled and crushed 1 1/2 tsp ground coriander 1 1/2 tsp ground cumin 2 tbsp freshly chopped coriander Salt and freshly ground black pepper 1-2 tbsp olive oil 8 wooden kebab skewers, (soaked in water for 30 minutes) Greek salad and crusty bread to serve Method Place all the ingredients in a food processor and whiz for 1-2 minutes or until the mixture comes together. Divide the mixture into 8 then carefully mould round the drained kebab sticks, pressing the mixture firmly onto the sticks. Brush the koftas with a little of the oil then place on the grill and cook under a pre heated grill for 8-10 minutes, or until thoroughly cooked. Turn occasionally during grilling and brush with a little of the oil as necessary.
I love to drink a mug of herbal tea every night. It really helps kill the night snacking.
Go Caprice (aka Fridasmom from tbw :)! My best diet tip is to cut out as many processed foods as you can. Eat fruits, veggies, whole grains (like brown rice, quinoa), meats, nuts, healthy oils (like olive oil) and minimally processed dairy, and you'll be full on just the right amount of calories.
Grilled Chicken with Healthy Pasta grill your chicken seasoned with Kosher or Sea Salt and freshly ground black pepper. Marinate your chicken in olive oil, and lemon juice (10 minutes b/4 grilling) Choose your desired pasta something that can hold up to grilled chicken such as a rotini, or a ziti; there are some wonderful varities available now that are smart pastas such as gluten free, carb lite, or wheat based as a mom I take all family members into consideration when choosing a pasta. In a bowl marinate some vegetables such as aspargus, string beans, broccolli florets; coat with olive oil, salt and pepper to taste grill to your desired tenderness. After your chicken is grilled, and the vegetables are to your liking use the same pot that you cooked the pasta in save some clean up time and place the chicken cut into strips along with the vegetables sprinkle with grated parmesan or romano cheese. Add pasta and sprinkle a little more cheese. My family loves this pasta dish and they don't miss the gooey cheese or the sauce. It is a plateful of goodness. Bon Apetit!
After having my second child I was pretty heavy. Weighing in about 188 giving birth, this was my heaviest. I was so depressed. But the best thing I could have done was find a way to start taking those pounds off. I did it by joining a support group with others facing the same challenges and goals - so don't try to do this alone - always seek that support group whether it be friends, family or some organized group. No that there will be good days and bad days. And most importantly, if you have a bad day so what - you just keep going - even if you gain back a pound - DO NOT BEAT YOURSELF UP !!! Say darn; but keep trying. Stay positive; Have a plan; Believe in You (stay away from haters !!!!) Way to go Caprice - you are my inspiration !!!!!
When using the George Foreman Grills I have found that about half way from your food is one spray it with salad spritzers like the red wine spritzer or the italian. It makes the meat more moist and tender as well as added a little zest to your meal.
I think the best way to lose weight safely is to detox your body through natural cleansing herbs and a raw vegeterian diet for 3 weeks. This method takes the weight off quick, safe and effectively. Life and death begins in the colon, so a good colon cleanse is also recommended.

Okay, I have thought long and hard about an idea to help you on your journey to the svelte you and I have come up with a full proof method of how to get healthy, get fit, get moving and get slim.......are you ready? First you wake up very early in the morning to greet the sun, then you thank God for the day. You get yourself together and proceed out the door. Your workout has begun. You walk to the train. Do not take the bus nor a taxi. Make your way from Jersey to Long Island. I will be waiting for you in the driveway with both the kids. The 4 year old and the 2 year old. Your workout for the day will be to take them to all the fun childrens outdoor activities. This includes the park where they will run you around for about 2 hours 3 if you you can handle it. Then you must take them on very large bouncing slides. You must participate you can not send them up the slide alone. Then you must pull out the balls to play catch, the jump rope, the holla hoop and the chalk to play hopscoth. These activities are sure to get the blood pumping and you have had a great fun day and given me a rest. Let me know what day is good for you, I really want to help you on your journey Note: The children are available for mulitiple days of these activities.
Get a grapefruit and if you get hungry between meals cut a slice of grapefruit and smell it. Your craving will be gone.

Derek, As a fellow African American male who used to be heavier, I want to lend my support. The first thing that I did was appreciate everything about me. It wasn't until I acknowledged the issues that caused me to live unhealthy that I was able to really make strides in my weight loss. Suggestion #1: Surround yourself with friends who live the lifestyle you are aspiring to live. Suggestion #2: Jump Rope - every day, even if it was only for a few minutes - I jumped rope and gave it my all. This really helped on my mid-section. Suggestion #3: Keep foods that you love in your diet - the less than healthy stuff just limit. Best of Luck.

The most obvious is having more sex! Swimming or participating in games like tennis, and baseball. Always remember we are all hear for you, so if you need a walking buddy let us know.
To fight cravings, eat small salads or small dishes as opposed to to big meals. It also helps your metabolism.
put on your favorite music and dance dance dance, it will work wonders! have fun while keeping shape!
I am a vegitarian and if your not try veggie burgers and soy products. If your lactose intolerant try Sorbet ice cream. Its tasty and no fat. This is a good treat for when you feel like cheating safely. You can buy veggie burgers at the store and the cost is really reasonable.
I took my son to Vegitarian Cafe on west 3rd street in new york and i am sure you can find a vegitarian cafe near you. He was very shocked that the chicken fingers and french fries were infact vegitarian. If your not having starches dont have the french fries and substitue for a small side salad or fruit
Stay focused! Stay motivated! And keep a positive mind on the big pictute!
16ibs.......Motivation in itself!! You WILL achieve your goal, just keep on keepin ON!
Don't skip meals, consistently eat small meals throughout the day. Skipping meals will slow down your metabolism.
Change up the routine
I do what you do for a living and even though you fly through different times zones. you cant forget to stay on one clock. If you think you can adjust your body clock and eat at different times to where your at then your body will get confused. I know you can do it just watch the clock.
Make breakfast your biggest meal, so that you burn it off during the day. And eat smaller meals for lunch and dinner! And drink plenty of water to dilute the calories!
when i wake up before i get out of bed i do 20 crunches. I feel like i am trying to help that belly fat stay away.
Life is not fair. You always have to choose between everything. It's impossible to have a healthy and beautiful body and lots of chocolat, cake, icecream, pies, fried stuff, beer... in front of the television. It seams to be difficult, but when you make the right choice, the sensation of WELLBEING and STRENGHT, in the end, is so GOOD... Go and get it. That's your best choice.
In between meals or whenever I need a snack while dieting, I like to either make a cup of tea (no milk, no sugar) or I snack on a pickle or miso soup. There are hardly any calories and it usually helps me get through hungry periods.
drink 8 glasses of water everyday or more!
Research has shown that drinking green tea can speed up your metabolism... instead of drinking coffee in the morning, substitute it with Green Tea!
Eat 12 cashews (unsalted) before eating any meal, you will get fuller quicker and eat less. meaning less calories, carbs, and fat!
I usually keep a large bottle of water with me at all times. Inbetween meals, I often get bored and need to snack. Your body sometimes mistakes thirst for hunger, so if you drink at least 8oz of water before you snack you may realize that you weren't hungry after all!
Avoid skipping meals. Eating increases your matabolism, thus skipping meals can 'trick' your body into slowing down its metabolism in an attempt to conserve calories during a period it perceives as a situation where limited fuel is available
This is a super recipe for The George Forman Grill: Ingredients: 3 chopped orange segments 1/4 cup orange juice (no pulp) 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil 2 tsp lime juice 3 garlic cloves, minced 1 tsp dried thyme 1 tsp dried oregano 1 tsp salt 1 tsp black pepper 1 lb boneless skinless chicken breasts Directions: Place all ingredients into a Zip-Loc bag. Massage the bag for a minute or so. Put bag in the refrigerator for about an hour. When desired time has passed, take out the bag and remove the chicken breasts. Grill chicken for around 4 to 8 minutes, or until juices run clear
This is super called Tandoori Grilled Chicken and works fantastic with this grill. You will need: 228g carton of unflavoured low fat yogurt, 1 Tbsp lemon juice, 2 tsp paprika, 2 garlic cloves, minced, ½ tsp ground ginger, ½ tsp cumin, ½ tsp cayenne pepper, ½ tsp cinnamon, 4 boneless, skinless chicken breast halves. To make: In a small bowl, mix together the yogurt, lemon juice, paprika, garlic, ginger, cumin, cayenne pepper & cinnamon. Place the chicken breasts in a shallow glass pan & pour the marinade over the pieces, turning to coat thoroughly. Cover tightly & refrigerate for 1–8 hours, turning occasionally. Place the chicken on a preheated grill & grill for 5-7 minutes. Discard any unused marinade.
the hardest part about loosing weight is learning how to curb your appetite. eating foods that are high in protein but low in carbohydrates will satisfy your hunger without setting you back on your weight loss goals. nutritious grab and go snacks suck as pumpkin seeds or almonds, adding beans or chicken to a salad, or tofu to a stirfry can help suffice your cravings for carbs. drinking the recommended 64 oz of water a day is a must to keep your body well hydrated and is part of any healthy diet. organic apple cider vinegar has been said to speed ones metabolism, and two tablespoons a day is the recommended daily dose. a great website to help you stay on track with your diet and weight loss goals is http://www.myfitnesspal.com. this great website helps to calculate your dietary needs in order to meet your weight loss goals and makes it simple to track your progress. i hope these tips inspire some and are helpful for others! good luck and enjoy the George Foreman challenge!
Eat protein at each meal and snack to decrease hunger beween meals(it also protects your body's lean muscle while losing weight). A protein bar or shake is convenient "on the run". Don't go longer than 4 hours without eating and eat within 2 hours of waking up.
Charity work that requires manual labor to get the job done. Any job that requires cleaning up a mess in a community, or building a house with habitat for the community. Not only will he lose weight but will be eager to do it even when he is sore or tired because he is helping people to.
ALMONDS!!!! They are so good when you are hungry and for a quick snack. Make sure they have not been roasted and the ones with no salt are best! Keep the good work. I think your going to win it!
You need to find a pick up league to play basketball. You know you love it and it wont even feel like a cardio workout while getting you bak\ck in the game too. Basketball is what you are pssionate about so play as much as you can. There must be some kind of league around right?
CYCLE FOR 30 MINUTES EVERYDAY AND USE GEORGE'S LEAN MEAN GRILLING MACHINE!
My first Tip of the Day! Troy. No SODA! That alone will be the best thing for you. Drink lots of water. If you have the urge to drink a Gatorade or Powerade, dump half of it out and mix the other half with water. They contain alot of sugar that only elite athletes can break down fast enough to not be harmful. Keep up the hard work! A video will soon be coming! eh.uh!!!
Make sure you journal about what you eat everyday. That way you know exactly what you eat and you can see where problem areas are. You can see the times when you go off track, and then you can plan a healthier snack for that time of the day.
Here is an easy and delicious cucumber salad recipe. Its basic but it has a little twist to it compared to most salads. 2 English cucumbers (2 pounds) 1 small red onion 1 1/2 tablespoons salt 1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon white wine vinegar or sherry vinegar 1 teaspoon sugar 2 teaspoons dried dill or 2 tablespoons fresh Slice the cucumber lengthwise, remove the seeds, and slice thinly. Thinly slice the onion. In a colander, toss the cucumber and onion with the salt and let it sit and drain for 20 minutes. Press the liquid out of the vegetables and rinse well with cold water. In a medium bowl combine the vinegar and sugar and stir well. Add the cucumber mixture and toss to coat. Stir in the dill. A wonderful dessert that is extremely low calorie is a yogurt parfait. Just take the Light 'N Fit vanilla yogurt and mix with any fresh summer fruit such as strawberries, blueberries, or raspberries.
My weight loss tip would be to eat about every two hours about six to seven times a day but really small healthy meals. So you never starve yourself but are constantly speeding up your metabolism. It worked for me so I have no doubt it will work for you. Here's another tip, always ask yourself before you're about to eat something you know you shouldn't, Is it worth it?
Read a book called Championship Bodybuilding by Chris Aceto! tons of information about eating right to gain lean muscle and loose fat. Also workouts! Good Luck!
Try Kickboxing 2-3 times a week. Even if you can't make it to the gym, you can make up your own routine at home. Do 2 minute intervals of continuous kickboxing moves (punches and kicks). Between each interval, do either 2 minutes of jumping rope, or push-ups and rest 30 seconds.
I have two good ideas Troy: Whenever you find your self sitting down to watch TV or to watch a ball game, everytime they cut to a commercial break to 10-20 push ups and sit ups during the commericals. By the end of a show or a game you could have done 100-200 sit ups and push ups and you don't even realize it! Also make exercising a game. When I shoot hoops I will take 10 shots from the foul line and 10 from the three point line. However many I miss, I will make those up by doing sprints. It is fun and very good for both your body and your mind because it makes you focus that much more! Great Job loosing the first 18, cant wait for the next installment. GO CELTICS!!!!!!!
hey troy! congrats on the 18 pounds you've already lost. that's awesome! since you seem like a really fast paced athletic guy, I have the perfect tip for you! At dinner time, put on some good 80s rock or dance music while cooking, and incorporate cardio and light weight lifting alongside your cooking! I like to use 5lb dumbless in one of my hands while I stir my pasta or set the table to eat! It makes the time it takes to cook a healthful and hearty meal pass by when you are focusing on working out too! Also, makes you just that much more hungry when it is time to sit down and eat. ALSO, you can lift weights while you load the dishwasher too ;) Enjoy and goodluck! Ashley
Troy, I read your story and it was the one I felt that related to me the most. I was once an athlete and a certified aerobics instructor. I found myself trying to get myself together after a car accident left me with two broken ankles. Trying to work out after an injury is tough. You have to take things into consideration that others don’t. My advice to you is to do low impact workouts for your cardio. The days of kickboxing and pylometrics are gone for me but if you decide to do them know your limitations. Elliptical machines are wonderful because you get the full workout of running without the impact on your joints. I would do cardio for at least an hour every day. Wear a heart monitor and try to work out at your target heart rate 60% of the time. It is also important to include a strength training a few times a week. I am also finishing up my degree and have a hard time finding time to work out. First you can split your cardio up into smaller sessions. Just as long as you get it done. You are an athlete so I don’t have to tell you how important it is to get the cardio and stretching in. Stability balls are awesome. Sit on one at your computer while you work on long assignments or do research. It stabilizes and strengthens your core while you work on other things. There are other little thing I have done to help me lose weight. Chewing gum burns 11 calories per hour and keeps you from sneaking little bites of food while you are cooking. I always keep a water bottle around. Get a nice water bottle . They have ones with filters in them that are about $15. If you spend that much on a bottle you will be more inclined to use it. Also using a water bottle is eco friendly. Bake don’t fry. Takes more time but so much better for you. Take a multivitamin with that supports weight loss or one with an energy supplement in it. Include your friends and family to help you achieve your goal. Spend time playing Frisbee, golf, swimming, going to the batting cages or just walking around the neighborhood. Stay positive! Give yourself positive self talk and daily affirmations and remind yourself everyday that there are people out there who have faith in you and want you to succeed! I know you can do it!
Troy keep up the great job!!TIPS: to get that water in every day, get the biggest glass in your cabinets fill it with water as soon as you get up and know that before you leave every morning that glass wil be empty, like guacamole..take a can of asparagus, drain put it in the blender or food processor with onions, tomatoes, garlic salt and blend, I know it sounds horrible but wow you won't believe it,it taste just like quacomole I promise...and I dont' even like asparagus, the fat content is cut down tremendously! good luck on that wieght loss and keep up the good work!! Terri Berry
Exercise can be so much more than going to the gym! You can hike a trail, climb a mountain, or ride your bike near the shore. Sometimes nature makes the workout so much less tedious!
Alot of times i like to run outside, it seems to help giving my joints a break from the pounding of the treadmill along with swimming some laps, what a great cardio workout!! It definately helps time to by faster with all the senery, and the fresh air is great for your endorphines! Another great tip is eating yougurt 5-10 minutes after an intense running and lifting workout, this is the best time to eat and the yougure helps rejuvenate your muscles faster, making them stronger and keeping your metabolism going! Thanks good luck Troy! Monica Frisbee
Before the weather gets too cold, you should go hiking! Great views, great fun, and great exercise!
Try taking a daily vitamin to go with the great food you eat. It is a great way to get vitamin C without putting any citric acid in your body!
When I workout, I try to work out 6 days a week with one day off to rest my muscles. I do about a half hour of cardio every day i work out. Then, I try to lift and tone about 3 days a week. It has been a great workout for being a college athlete!
Eating healthy is great but a lot of people think because you are eating healthy you can eat as much as you want which is NOT true. Portion makes a difference. When you feel full stop eating. That is your body saying that it does not need any more fuel for the time being. Wait for a few hours (around 3-4) and then re-fuel.
Mix up the cardio with some pilates and yoga. Even as a guy, these are great workouts to elongate your muscles and tone them as well. Cable companies have them on demand for easy morning workouts!
Hey Troy! I'm so proud of how well you're doing and how amazing you look! You've really turned your whole lifestyle in a positive direction and it's helping all of us do the same. Couple of recipes and tips I wanted to share: I am a stay-at-home mom and I have my hands VERY full with my toddler son, Jonah (Troy's nephew!). So, basically with my food I am always looking for healthy, hearty, TIME SAVING options. I have recently lost 45 pounds myself and it's because I have switched to eating healthier foods in correct portions. I also like to make a lot of foods in advance that I can reheat during the week. One thing I make every week is a large, roasted chicken. I season the outside of the chicken with garlic, onion, parsley, black pepper and a little salt and I put either an onion or an apple inside the body of the chicken to help keep it moist while cooking. Then while that's in the oven, I use a large pot to make two sides at once: I put a steaming basket at the bottom with chopped winter squash, and then I put a second basket that fits in the top with sliced zucchini, onions and summer squash or carrots, seasoned with a little Italian season. I put the lid on, steam for twenty minutes and then it's good to go. I package it all up in large tupperware containers, and then I can weigh everything out one meal at a time (I usually find that for my body, 4oz of protein and 8 oz of veggies is a good serving, plus a half a cup of complex carbohydrates like brown rice, baked potato or yam). I also take some of the chicken and chop it up and stick it in ziploc baggies in the fridge so I can grab one to put on top of my salad. I also buy in bulk at a wholesale club and make a large salad at the beginning of each week with the following ingredients that I've found don't spoil over the course of a week: I use a large container of mixed spring greens or baby spinach, a package of shredded carrot, a package of broccoli slaw (available with the cole slaw mixes), a package of sliced mushrooms, and two chopped bell peppers. Then I have it ready made all week long! It's a great time saver and I find that when the right choices are available, it's easier not to go for the junk. Another go-to meal that's inexpensive, packed with protein and VERY satisfying is kidney beans and brown rice with mixed veggies. Again, I weigh out all my portions on a digital scale to be sure I'm not overeating, and then I combine kidney beans, brown rice and veggies in a stir-fry pan and add garlic, soy sauce and a little hot peppers (optional of course unless you're Troy or I) and heat everything for about ten minutes. And then enjoy! So easy and fast and a great alternative to eating meat. I think the key to weight loss is recognizing that long-term success means taking it just a day at a time and being honest with ourselves about what we're eating. It's easy to eat too much when we don't take the time to weigh or measure our food. The right foods in the right quantities along with regular exercise can mean a lifetime at a healthy weight. Hope these tips might help someone else achieve a happier, healthier life! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK, TROY!
I really wanted to share my favorite side dish. I am a huge fan of vegetables and I have always taken mushrooms, onions, peppers- basically anything that I have available in my fridge. I like to use a touch of olive oil in the pan and cut the veggtables up and sautee them. I think the olive oil brings out a different flavor in the vegetables. I just though this small side dish is quick and easy and perfect for someone on the go! Goodluck Troy!
Start your mournings off with about a cup of fat free cottage cheese. This contains a slow digesting protein to help support muscle growth through out the day. Also, drink whey protein directly after your workout. Whey protein digests very quickly and will supplement your muscles when then can absorb the most protein.

Yannick, I know you can do it! My advice given to you is no rice, use sodium-free salt for cooking if you want the taste.
Walk on your break for 15 minutes everyday, and on the weekend walk for 30 minutes in the morning and afternoon.
Yannick take some time to walk the park or greenways in your area. Its great exercise and even better stress reliever. Nature has its own way of motivating you. In North Carolina I love walking around the park lake . I enjoy the sounds of the birds, occasional rabbits, and seeing the fish and turtles in the water. While in the contest have fun and enjoy every moment. Love ya, Mom

have a "once a Week Fasting Day" it will speed things up :) its a great way to Detox your body and helps getting over those "plateaus" Between 32 and 64 ounces of juice is usually recommended per day during the fast. The juice is sipped throughout the day. Typical fruits and vegetables include celery, carrot, kale, cabbage, apple, pineapple, cranberry ... GOOD LUCK! :)
Make vegetarian burgers. They are very low in fat, high in protein and taste great on a George Foreman grill. You can freeze the patties to save time.

I just wanted you to remember that everything you do to lose weight has to build habits that you can continue to use in your everyday life. Excessive behavior will get the weight off but it won't keep it off. I know you'll do it. Use the words as inspiration forthe makings of a fine and true character.
I personaly witnessed a woman loose 180lbs in two years from almost 400lbs! What you are going through IS hard but your determination and persistance WILL do it for you. My vote is for you because I know you can reach your goal. It's highly probable with good cardiovascular exercise as well. Burn calories and manage you carbohydrates, it will happen for you.
Do more exercise, walking, using stairs instead of elevator, think of training ..

First thing get yourself a good juicer machine. Then do carrots, celery, beets, bell pepper(red, yellow, orange) they are sweet. Now for the kicker a little garlic and ginger to your liking. This will cut the fat and evertything eles.
When working in the residence halls, take a walk through the building and skip the elevators. You'll get to know your buildings really well while getting in some great exercise!
Make sure you get your must have essentials in everyday, which are 48 ounces of water, five servings of fruits and veggies, two tablespoons of essential oils which are your good oils, it can be canola oil, olive oil, safflower seed oil or sunflower seed oil, and protein in the form of fish or chicken and at least 20 min of exercise everyday. Yannick keep up the good work! Drink plenty of water and walk in the morning. Watch the salt content in your foods. Love Mom
Hi honey, I thought of a few things that might help burn off the fat. Eliminate red meat, but you have to substitute olive oil in your diet or you'll dry your skin out. Chickweed tea from the health food store, it eliminates cellulose from your body. Grapefruit juice fresh squeezed with the pulp, helps eliminate cellulose and it's a great diuretic.Do exercises consistently with a good workout video for at least a half hour per day. Keep up the great work! I'm like you- I crave sweets, the only thing that works for me is fresh and dried fruits and lots of juice. Sorry I'm not a water guzzler.
eat some sweet fruits to feed ur sweet tooth
Drink at least 64 ounces of water every day, I'm tellling you, if not all the excersing you do is in vein.
Losing weight is like being in a fight, you get tired of the exorcise and the reduction in calories, but, this is when you have to say to yourself, I want this, I want to lose the weight to allow my body to feel healthy, to feel free of the excess pounds that have me trapped in a body that tires easily and that aches more than it should. I want the freedom to buy clothes and go to public places without feeling like every eye in the room is on me. I want freedom to be me, I am tired of being trapped in this overweight body, I will win this fight 1 pound at a time and if I get discouraged I will just look into the mirror and envision myself at the weight I want to be and I will love myself enough to keep up the fight. With every pound lost I gain, as pounds of fat rob me of my freedom. You deserve this, never quit and remember each pound lost is a round won in the fight that will free you.
Use brown rice with your meals. Combine the rice with things like beans, green peppers, chicken breast, turkey breast or fish. Use herbs and sea salt.
New Twist on HOT Pockets! Try fresh or frozen veggies inside pita bread or rolled in tortillas on a George Foreman Grill.
drink 8ozs of water before each meal. not only will it clean the palate; it will help fill you up preventing the need to over-eat.
When you're craving a fat-filled meal, eat a small salad with your favorite vegetables/nuts/etc. first and you won't feel deprived.
It's the little things that can keep you motivated.
The healthiest way to reach your weight loss goal is to eat whole grain and high fiber foods include low-fat dairy and lean meats.
