Usage & cleaning
Q. How do I turn my grill on/off?
A.For many grills, there is no need to press a specific button to turn your grill on or off – you can simply plug in to power on and unplug to power off. For grills with an on/off switch, simply find the switch on the side or side legs of the grill to control the power. Grills with digital controls will generally have a power button on the top of the lid with the rest of the controls
Q. Why does my grill not turn on?
A. The grill is not receiving power. Check to make sure that the grill is plugged into a working outlet; if your grill has an on/off switch or power button, make sure it is powered on. If the grill still does not turn on, please call our Customer Care line at 1-800-231-9786.
Q. Why does the light on my grill turn on and off during cooking?
A. This is normal. Most George Foreman grills have a preheat indicator light on top of the lid. This light turns on when the grilled is powered on and then turns off once the grill has reached its cooking temperature. During cooking, this light turns on and off to indicate that the correct temperature is being maintained.
Q. What if my grill has two lights?
A. Some George Foreman grills will have two lights (like the 360 Grill, for example). One of these lights is your power indicator light, which should turn on when the grill is powered on and stay constant. The other light is the preheat indicator light; it will turn on and off during cooking to indicate that the temperature is being maintained.
Q. Can I adjust the cooking temperature on my grill?
A. Some grills will allow you to adjust the temperature, using a dial, slide or digital temperature control; always refer to the cooking chart in your Use & Care manual to determine the optimal temperature for the food you wish to cook. Other grills do not have adjustable temperature but you can cook a variety of foods by adjusting the cooking time; refer to the cooking chart in your Use & Care manual.
Q. Why does the hinge on the back of the lid seem loose?
A. Most George Foreman grills feature some form of our floating hinge system that attaches the lid to the grill body at the back of the unit. This hinge is designed to adjust automatically to the thickness of the food being cooked, so it may seem loose when you first start to use your grill; this is normal. Always trim food to a consistent thickness to allow the hinge work properly.
Q. How do I clean the outer casing of my grill?
A. Simply wipe the exterior casing with a warm, damp (not dripping) sponge and dry with a soft cloth or paper towel. Wiping the casing after each use will help maintain the appearance of your grill. Never use steel wool or abrasive cleansers.
Q. Are the accessories of my grill dishwasher-safe?
A. Yes. The drip trays, spatulas and removable plates are all dishwasher-safe. Always wash the drip trays and spatulas on the top rack only; removable plates can be washed on either. You may also hand wash with hot, soapy water. Dry thoroughly after cleaning.
Q. A part on my grill broke. What do I do?
A. Some parts of your grill can be replaced. Simply call our replacement parts service at 1-800-738-0245 and use the part number provided on the parts list near the front of your Use & Care manual.
